Pu Xin-yu (1896-1963), a descendant of the ruling Manchu Aisin-Gioro clan,
was given the name Pu Ru at birth and took the courtesy name Xin-yu after coming of age.
Pu was a well-rounded painter, a master of a wide range of themes and an outstanding poet and calligrapher, and Hanyutang is the name of his studio.
