“Human! How do we escape from Nature, and how do we respond to the gift of time?” This concert’s theme song is Vox Balaenae, written by postmodernist composer George Crumb. (1929-) Aside from special lighting used in performance and the masks worn by performers, the definition of instruments and audiences also broke away from the confines of conventional minds. Audiences dived into a mysterious musical ocean with beats and sound effects. Musicians Pei-Yao Wang, Yi-Xian Liao, and Moky Gibson-Lane shared the works of five contemporary composers. And through listening to nature-inspired music from these five composers, we developed different feelings towards time. And perhaps are more profoundly aware of the connection between humans and nature.
