Were you once a frequent visitor to Taroko Gorge? Have you marveled at the magnificent craftsmanship of nature alongside friends and guests? Have you gazed at the starry sky in Bulowan and felt a sense of happiness and beauty? Which trails have you walked in Taroko Gorge, and what stories have you heard?
The carved river valleys and streams, rolling boulders and landslides, distant rumblings and tremors… On April 3, 2024, a tectonic shift unleashed more than just shattered rocks; it shook the relationship between earthquakes and humanity, history and the present, disaster relief and self-rescue, Homo sapiens and nature, and, above all, the bond between people and memory.
Though Taroko Gorge is temporarily shrouded in dust and the scenes of the past are no longer visible, nature remains in the crevices—in the gaps between falling rocks and sand, between fallen trees and grass. It will slowly heal the wounds, awaiting that ray of light to illuminate the gaps.
"Remembering Taroko" captures this in images, presenting and sharing the beauty and journey of Taroko National Park's mountains and forests with the public.
We thank nature for gifting us such a grand and enchanting place, where we have created wonderful memories with family and friends. In this exhibition, we will also piece together more of Taroko’s past beauty using the photographs you have taken in Taroko Gorge.
